Debrief with Jesus is a prayer app. What you tell Him is between you and Him, so privacy is the heart of how we built it. This page explains, in plain words, what stays on your phone, what we keep, and what we don't.
Your reports, drafts, the verses you have received, your requests, and your settings are stored only on your device. We cannot read them and cannot recover them. Your phone's own backup (such as iCloud) may keep a copy when you upgrade phones.
When you file a report, the text is sent from the app to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude AI to choose a Bible verse, write a short note, and summarize what you shared. We do not write your report to our database or logs. The AI service processes it under its own terms and privacy policy. The Bible text itself always comes from the copy stored in the app; the AI only names a reference.
You will always be told in the app that your report is processed by an AI service to choose scripture.
When you talk instead of type, your speech is converted to text by your iPhone, on the device. We require on-device recognition, so your audio is not sent to us or to Apple's servers for this purpose. If your phone cannot do this, the app asks you to type instead.
If you join a Unit, other members can see your first name, an initial in a colored circle, whether you prayed today, and your current streak. They never see your reports, verses, or requests.
The app may gently show help resources if what you share sounds heavy. This happens on your phone and through the AI's reading of your report. We never notify anyone else. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US), text HOME to 741741, or call 911 if you are in immediate danger.
Debrief with Jesus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
